Dr. Janna Jones

Dr. Janna Jones received her PhD in Communication in 1998 from the University of South Florida. She is currently an associate professor in the School of Communication at Northern Arizona University. Her research interests focus on the historic preservation of movie palaces, the film archive, amateur film, and cinema going. She teaches courses at NAU about the history of popular film and television, the documentary, and cultural theory.





Dr. Mark Neumann

Dr. Mark Neumann is a Professor and Director of the School of Communication at NAU. His research and teaching interests are broadly based in the study of visual culture, media and documentary. his work takes a number of paths ranging from the study of visual technologies and their impact on cultural life, the study of audio and visual documentary, the history and culture of amateur film, and the history and culture of tourism.








Genevieve Canceko Chan

Genevieve Canceko Chan has over fifteen years of experience in strategic planning, academic publishing, and marketing and communications. Her current interests include regional economic development, social media strategy, and arts advocacy. She has worked primarily with nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions, including for the American Bar Association, Beacon Press, Dartmouth College, and Saint Martin’s University. She has also volunteered for many arts-oriented nonprofits including the Northern Arizona Book Festival, the Olympia Film Society, the Art Institute of Chicago, and WBEZ, the Chicago NPR station. An avid reader, writer, and film enthusiast, she has a BA from Stanford University and an MFA from the University of Michigan.

Darcy Falk

Darcy Falk has created numerous fine art pieces for public and private collections. She is a nationally recognized, contemporary fiber artist. Her work has been shown in gallery and museum exhibitions throughout the U.S. and abroad, and has been featured in numerous books and magazines. Some of her clients include the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, Hyatt Hill Country in San Antonio, Texas and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Also an accomplished writer, her essays have been published nationally and regularly appear in Flagstaff Live!. She also teaches occasional workshops and opens her workspace to the public.


 

Lead Volunteers

Elizabeth Hellstern

Elizabeth Hellstern is proud to serve her second year as Media Relations Lead for the Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival.  She does public relations and marketing for the College of Arts and Letters at Northern Arizona University, and enjoys promoting events such as film, theatre, music, lecture series and art exhibits to the NAU and Flagstaff community.  Elizabeth received her bachelor’s degree in English and her master’s degree in Applied Communication from NAU.  She has been responsible for helping to bring eight film festivals to NAU in the last five years, including the Tournées French Film Festival. Elizabeth brings a strong passion for bringing together the arts and community, and is excited to be working with such a strongly established locally-driven film festival.




Corina Roche

Corina Roche is a senior undergraduate at Northern Arizona University receiving her bachelor’s degree in English. Corina is a first year intern with the Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival and assists with marketing, advertising, public outreach, and the like. Currently she is working as the Assistant Festival Coordinator. Her involvement at the Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival began in 2010 by doing volunteer work through the Cinema and Visual Culture program at NAU. Corina is thrilled to be a part of the 2011 Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival. She is very grateful to have this opportunity and hopes not to get too underfoot.
