Makyla Allison - (Red Bird Saves the Corn) is currently a 7th grade student at the STAR School who is working on her fourth film. She enjoys filmmaking, horseback riding and basketball.
Kira Butler - (Nitsidigo’i‘, STAR Energy, STAR Peacemaking) having graduated from eighth grade at STAR, is currently in the 9th grade at Flagstaff High School. She enjoys basketball and filmmaking.

Cherylee Francis - (Voices From Black Mesa) - Cherylee Francis, producer, director, videographer, and editor began her media career working for KUAT6-PBS, Citadel Broadcasting, and KGUN9ABC, 10 years ago. As a video production contractor, clients have included: Universal Sports – NBC, Good Morning America – ABC, CNN, The George Lucas Educational Foundation – Edutopia, The History Channel, The Discovery Channel, and HD Television Documentary Series – In the Americas with David Yetman.
Joshua Gregg - (Nitsidigo’i’, STAR Energy) having graduated from eighth grade at STAR, is currently in the 10th grade at Marcos de Niza High School.

William John - (Ta’Chéé) having graduated from eighth grade at STAR, is currently in the 9th grade at Flagstaff High School. He enjoys playing guitar, listening to music, and of course filmmaking.
Keanu Jones - (Nitsidigo’i’, STAR Peacemaking) having graduated from eighth grade at STAR, is currently in the 9th grade at Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy He enjoys helping his grandparents, listening to music, and filmmaking.
Larissa Luther - (RedBird Saves the Corn) is currently a 7th grade student at the STAR School who is working on her fourth film. She enjoys filmmaking, horseback riding and basketball.
Camille Manybeads Tso – Camille Manybeads Tso (Navajo) made “In the Footsteps of Yellow Woman“ at 13 years old as her 8th grade project, but it soon grew into something more meaningful. Camille conducted the interviews, researched the time period, and wrote a script of re-enactments. She recruited her family to help her make costumes, direct, film, act, sing, and edit. The results are a beautiful film of the power of reclaiming oral histories. Camille learned the art of film through the Indigenous Youth media literacy collective, Outta Your Backpack Media. Camille formed Halne’e (Storyteller) Productions with her family in 2008 to save her community’s stories.
Peter McBride – (Chasing Water) - Native Coloradan Pete McBride has spent almost two decades studying the world with his camera. A self-taught, award-winning photographer, he has traveled on assignment to over 60 countries for the publications of the National Geographic Society, Smithsonian, Outside, Men’s Journal, Esquire, and many others. After a decade working abroad, Pete decided to focus his cameras closer to home on a subject closer to his heart. Combining his passion for aviation and his belief in conservation, he partnered with Jon Waterman and spent over two years documenting his local river — the Colorado. This journey culminated in a coffee table book: “The Colorado River: Flowing Through Conflict”, an award-winning short film, “Chasing Water” and a traveling museum exhibit/ lecture currently on display at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
Taylor McCabe - McCabe (STAR Peacemaking) is currently an 8th grade student at the STAR School. She enjoys basketball and filmmaking.
Jacob Seigel-Boettner - (With My Own Two Wheels) On October 15, 1987, newborn Jacob came home from the hospital in a bike trailer. It was love at first ride. He grew up in the saddle, leading youth bike trips with his family everywhere from British ColumbiatoItalytoRwanda. In 2002, Jacob, his family, and several friends fromSanta BarbaraMiddle Schoolembarked on a four month trek across theUnited Statesin the footsteps of Lewis and Clark. They called themselves the Corps of ReDiscovery. Jacob’s passion for two wheels is equaled by his passion for storytelling and social justice. While earning his BA in Peace and Conflict Studies at UC Berkeley, Jacob produced short films in Rwanda and Bosnia- Herzegovina that dealt with issues of sustainable development and national identity politics. With My Own Two Wheels is the senior thesis that he never got a chance to “write.”
Denise Stilley - (Green Waste) Denise M. Stilley channeled her film career toward the real and fleeting, captured moments and messages in documentary filmmaking. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Studies with a minor in Spanish from the University of California Santa Barbara, completing her thesis on imperfect cinema techniques and indigenous filmmaking. Shortly after, she moved to Queensland Australia to obtain her Master’s Degree in Film and Television Production. Stilley has worked on projects internationally to provide global awareness and connection from the frozen Patagonia ice caps to the birth of the Amazon River, from women’s abortion rights in Mexico to bird observation routes inPeru. She is also the director of the Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival Emerging Filmmaker Program.
Tevin Todacheenie - (Ta’Chéé) is currently an 8th grade student at the STAR School who is working on his second film.
Katja Torneman – (Anna, Emma And The Condors) Katja is originally fromSwedenbut left in 1982 to live in ChamonixFrancewhere she started climbing in theAlpsand skied professionally. In 1986, she sailed fromSpain, across the Atlantic Ocean, to finally reach the US and climb The Nose on El Cap inYosemite. At that point, her climbing career took off and she climbed professionally around the world during the 80′s and 90′s. She traveled extensively for climbing, exploration and photography around Europe, North Africa, Asia, US andCentral America. Her photos and stories were published in magazines inSweden,SpainandEngland. During her travels, her passion for animals brought her to care for those who were abandoned, hungry and injured. While living in theUSwith her two dogs Thelma and Louise, she has climbed, traveled and is currently studying at the Zaki Gordon Film Institute. Today, some of Katja’s main passions are Documentaries, Photography and Mountaineering. She is inspired by the art and the communication that can be made via film and photography. Some of the main interests in her documentary filmmaking are the environment, wildlife, mountaineering, animal and humanitarian rights.
Rachel Tso - Rachel Tso is an Award-Winning Educator, Filmmaker, Producer, and the
Developer of Place-Based Media Arts Education and Curriculum. She is
a consultant at the S.T.A.R. School, an off-grid, all solar and wind
powered charter school recognized as a leader in place-based
education, where she facilitates students in creating Place-Based
Media Arts projects that are deeply meaningful for themselves and
their communities.
